Resolution: Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team
During their May 2025 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team.
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team traveled to the Oklahoma School for the Blind to participate in the annual South Central Association for Schools for the Blind competition, on January 23-26, 2025, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team competed against teams from Mississippi School for the Blind, Oklahoma School for the Blind, and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team clinched the overall championship and placed first in the Spirit Competition, and
WHEREAS, Senior Taelor Robinson won 2nd Place in the Outstanding Individual Routine category, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team includes Seniors Taelor Robinson of Birmingham and Brittney Gardner-Braxton of Gadsden; Freshmen Zy’Terriah Grigsby of Oxford, Clara Scelsi of Pell City and Latisha Jordan of Talladega, Seventh Graders Ava Brakefield of Pell City, Sereniti Sanders of Gadsden, Aracely Domingo of Gadsden, Macey Wilson of Weaver, and Jaziah Fluker of Talladega, and
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team was trained and led to the overall victory and other honors by Coaches Jennifer Hammock and Leah Sutton.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team for its victories and extraordinary performances in the South Central Association for Schools for the Blind cheerleading competition.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coaches Jennifer Hammock and Leah Sutton, and the Alabama School for the Blind Cheer Team and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
