Resolution: Helen Keller School of Alabama CLAS School of Distinction
During their May 2025 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring the Helen Keller School of Alabama as a 2024 Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) School of Distinction.
WHEREAS, the Helen Keller School of Alabama was selected as a 2024 Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) School of Distinction for its exemplary program, the Emerging Eagles, and
WHEREAS, this distinguished recognition is awarded to school programs that serve as outstanding educational models for other schools across the state of Alabama, and
WHEREAS, the CLAS Banner School program, established in 2001, honors schools that demonstrate outstanding programs and exceptional service to students, and
WHEREAS, in 2024, a total of 234 schools were nominated for this prestigious recognition, with 222 schools submitting applications and only thirty-two being selected as CLAS Schools of Distinction, and
WHEREAS, Helen Keller School of Alabama, through the innovation, dedication, and collaboration of its students, faculty, and staff, has demonstrated excellence in education and a strong commitment to student success through the Emerging Eagles program, and
WHEREAS, Helen Keller School of Alabama will be formally recognized at the CLAS Schools of Distinction Awards Luncheon on May 5, 2025, in Prattville, Alabama, during which the CLAS Banner School for each State Board District will be announced.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees commends and congratulates Helen Keller School of Alabama for this outstanding achievement and continued service and dedication to educational excellence.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Helen Keller School of Alabama Principal Amy Shelly, Helen Keller School of Alabama Emerging Eagles, and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
