Resolution: Michael Taylor

 Michael Taylor smiles to camera with four other reps from Alabama Industries for the Blind.During their February 2024 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring Michael Taylor of Alabama Industries for the Blind. 

WHEREAS, Mr. Michael Taylor has been named Blind Worker of the Year by Alabama Industries for the Blind, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is the 2024 recipient of the Peter J. Salmon Award which honors employees who excel in their positions at National Industries for the Blind associated agencies, and

WHEREAS, the Peter J. Salmon Award is named for the late Dr. Peter J. Salmon, who was instrumental in the passage of the Wagner O-Day Act and the formation of the National Industries for the Blind. Nominees for the Peter J. Salmon Award are people who are blind and currently employed in a direct labor manufacturing or service operation in a National Industries for the Blind associated nonprofit agency. Nominees are evaluated for the award based on job performance and positive activities in both the workplace and in their communities, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor began working at Alabama Industries for the Blind in 1993, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor has worked in the Screen Print Department for over twenty years and currently holds the position of Screen Print and Embroidery Assistant, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor continues to strive for knowledge and is currently enrolled in computer skills courses, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor’s supervisor describes him as, “A person who takes pride in providing the best possible product and service to his customers”, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is highlighted during tours of the Alabama Industries for the Blind facility. Visitors are always delighted and impressed by his knowledge and dedication to the mission, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is married to Mrs. Christina Taylor. They have one daughter, Breanna, and two sons, Brandon and Colton. He also has a wonderful relationship with his parents, Virginia and Jack Smith, and his sister, Brooke Bartlett, and

WHEREAS, in his free time, Mr. Taylor likes to spend time with family and friends. He also loves to fish, and

WHEREAS, Mr. Taylor is a dedicated and adaptable employee who is adored by his co-workers.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates Mr. Michael Taylor for being named the Alabama Industries for the Blind Worker of the Year and receiving the Peter J. Salmon Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Michael Taylor and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
