Resolution: Charissa Archield
During their February 2024 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring Charissa Archield of Alabama Industries for the Blind.
WHEREAS, Mrs. Charissa Archield has been named Blind Worker of the Year by Alabama Industries for the Blind, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield is the 2024 recipient of the Milton J. Samuelson Career Achievement Award which is presented to an individual who demonstrates career advancement at a National Industries for the Blind associated nonprofit agency or in the private sector. Named after the late Dr. Samuelson, the award is a tribute to his leadership in establishing upward mobility and placement programs for people who are blind. Nominees are evaluated for the award based on job performance, positive activities both at work and in their community, and career advancement or steps taken toward career development, such as participating in training or attending college, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield began her employment at Alabama Industries for the Blind in 2021, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield joined the AIB team as a production employee. Through the upward mobility program, Mrs. Archield worked her way up to the position of Manager at the Anniston Army Depot Base Supply Center, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield strives to continually improve. She has completed courses offered by the National Industries for the Blind, such as a twelve-week course on Effective Supervision, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield’s supervisor says, “Charissa is a real team player who exhibits her desire to help Alabama Industries for the Blind succeed through her day-to-day actions. Whether it’s sharing her personal journey about losing her eyesight or explaining what the Skilcraft brand represents, she is putting herself out there to educate and motivate people to purchase items from AIB,” and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield is married to John Johnson. They have one son, Noreiny, and one daughter, Letia. In 2022 they welcomed their first grandchild, Christopher, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield enjoys going to church and attending Bible study and loves being with her family. She also enjoys working out, taking nature walks, attending dance classes, and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Archield is a dedicated and loyal employee.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates Mrs. Archield for being named the Alabama Industries for the Blind Worker of the Year and receiving the Milton J. Samuelson Career Achievement Award.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Charissa Archield and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
