Alabama School for the Deaf Hosts Career Day

A student speaks with representatives at Career Day.On March 17, Alabama School for the Deaf hosted a career day for students from across AIDB’s Talladega campuses to explore their college and career options.

“I am so glad we could host Career Day in person for the first time since 2019!” said Rachel Neighbors, Career Tech Education Director, Alabama School for the Deaf. “We had a great turnout with employers and colleges from not only Alabama but New York and Washington, D.C. as well. This was a great opportunity for students to see a wide range of college and career options all over the U.S. and talk with people from various fields. This will give them a leg up in determining what they want to do with life after high school.”

Throughout the event, presentations in Teague Gym provided students with information on the Ironworkers Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Gallaudet University as well as a Deaf Panel Presentation that provided students with information on navigating college and careers.

Displays were also set up in McBride Gym with representatives from colleges and businesses who provided more information about their programs and answered student questions.
