Caitlin Cox Named Director of the Alabama Instructional Resource Center for the Blind

Caitlin Cox has been named the new Director of the Alabama Instructional Resource Center for the Blind (AIRCB).

"I am beyond excited to be at the AIRCB and look forward to connecting with not only ASB students but also individuals that we serve through the Sub Regional Library and teachers, teachers of students with visual impairments, and special education coordinators for our students in the school systems,” said Cox. “I have very big shoes to fill and I will do my best to fill them; I am grateful for all the guidance that I have received from Mrs. Lacy and excited to get to work with a wonderful group of individuals, not only at the AIRCB but within the AIDB family."

Cox began her career as the Assistant Director of the Oxford Public Library before moving to Talladega College to work as the Director of Savery Library. While at Talladega College, Cox also served as the Interim Director of the Dr. William R. Harvey Museum of Art as well as the UNCF Liberal Arts Innovation Grant Program Manager.

Cox is a graduate of Jacksonville State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in History. Cox went on to attend The University of Alabama where she earned her Master of Library and Information Sciences. While in her master’s program, Cox participated in a dual internship in Douglasville, Georgia at the Satilla Regional Library and the WS Smith Library at South Georgia State College. Cox has also earned her Certificate in Effective Instruction through The Association of College and University Educators and The American Council on Education.
