Resolution: ASB Cheerleading

During their February 2023 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring the Alabama School for the Blind Cheerleading Team. 

WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind (ASB) Redskin Cheerleading Team competed against five other states to win the South Central Association of Schools for the Blind (SCASB) cheer competition title in Talladega, AL, in January 2023, and

WHEREAS, the ASB Redskin Cheerleader Zania Abdullah defeated cheerleaders from Oklahoma and Georgia to be named the SCASB Outstanding Cheerleader, and

WHEREAS, the ASB Redskin Cheerleading Team defeated Georgia, Texas, Mississippi, and Oklahoma to be named winners of the Spirit Category, and

WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind cheerleading team includes: Captain Zania Abdullah of Talladega, Tamya Dewitt of Birmingham, Diamond Jackson of Montgomery, Taelor Robinson of Birmingham, Narissa Swaim of Scottsboro, Belle Williams of Birmingham, Mascot Cassidie Gorig of Mobile, and

WHEREAS, the ASB cheerleaders were trained and led to the overall victory by Coach Jennifer Hammock.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates the Cheerleading Team for their victories and extraordinary performances in the SCASB cheerleading competitions. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Hammock and the cheerleading team and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
