During their February 2023 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring the Alabama School for the Blind Wrestling Team. 

WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind (ASB) Redskin Wrestling Team competed against five other states to win the South Central Association of Schools for the Blind (SCASB) wrestling competition title in Talladega, AL, January, 2023, for the 19^th consecutive year, and

WHEREAS, the ASB Wrestling Team received a total team score of 193 points, soundly defeating Oklahoma’s score of 119, Texas’ score of 97, Georgia’s score of 79, Mississippi’s score of 56, and Louisiana’s score of 23, and

WHEREAS, several ASB wrestlers scored first in their respective weight classes including Ricky Weaver, 113 lbs.; Jay Tinniehill, 126 lbs.; Moises Francisco, 132 lbs.; Daymion Winfrey, 138 lbs.; Andre Garrett, 145 lbs.; Ny’Dariun Jones, 160 lbs.; Rin Pollard, 170 lbs.; Chris Weaver, 182 lbs.; and Cedric Caver, 195 lbs.; and

WHEREAS, the ASB Redskin Wrestling Team includes Cedric Caver of Talladega, Moises Francisco of Birmingham, Andre Garrett of Huntsville, Ny’Dariun Jones of Monroeville, Rin Pollard of Sylacauga, Abby Theiss of Valley Grande, Jay Tinniehill of Talladega; Kentavious Tinniehill of Talladega, Chris Weaver of Talladega, Ricky Weaver of Tuscaloosa, Daymion Winfrey of Talladega, and Cole Young of Pike Road, and

WHEREAS, the ASB Wrestling Team was trained and directed by Coach Troy Haynes and Assistant Coaches Jimmy Dean and Josh Haynes.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates the ASB Wrestling Team for a job well done in demonstrating your limitless ability in the SCASB Wrestling competitions. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Troy Haynes and Assistant Coaches Jimmy Dean and Josh Haynes and the ASB Redskin Wrestling Team and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
