Resolution: ASD Boy's Track Team

 The Boy's Track Team and Coaches smile to camera behind three trustees, seated, looking on.During their November 2023 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of honoring the Alabama School for the Deaf Boy's Track Team with the following resolution. 

WHEREAS, the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletics Association (NDIAA) has recognized the Alabama School for the Deaf Boy's Track Team as the winner of the National Championship for Division II, and

WHEREAS, this recognition was given on June 13th, 2023, based on the individual players' best running timings and results in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, 800-meter dash, 110-meter hurdles, 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay, 1600-meter relay, 3200-meter relay, long jump, triple jump, high jump, and javelin, and

WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Deaf Boy’s Track Team boys had the best results among all other deaf schools in Division II, which led to their selection for the National Championship in track and field over their competitors: Arizona State School for the Deaf and Blind, Arkansas School for the Deaf, Delaware School for the Deaf, Iowa School for the Deaf, Kansas School for the Deaf, Lexington School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Deaf, Marie Philip School at the Learning Center for the Deaf, Metro School for the Deaf, Michigan School for the Deaf, Minnesota School for the Deaf, Mississippi School for the Deaf, Missouri School for the Deaf, New Mexico School for the Deaf, New York School for the Deaf, Ohio School for the Deaf, Oklahoma School for the Deaf, Rhode Island School for the Deaf, St. Mary's School for the Deaf, Washington School for the Deaf, Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Wisconsin School for the Deaf, and

WHEREAS, the team was composed of Seniors: Austin Brown of Birmingham, Kaleb Buck of Birmingham, Bodgan Daily of Montevallo, Joshua Kelley of Dothan, and Joshua Kirk of Piedmont. Juniors: Austin Hayes of Cullman, Triallen Washington of Montgomery, and Kristopher Williams of Talladega. Sophomores: Dominick Jefferson of Montgomery, Lemarcus Jordan of Montgomery, Noah Meritt of Birmingham, and Brayden Weeks of Shelby. Freshmen, Lakendrick Agee of Mobile, Peter Brownlee of Birmingham, Edson Rojas of Oxford, and

WHEREAS, the team was coached by Chris Moon, Marvice Robinson, and Cedric Tyson.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates the Alabama School for the Deaf Boys Track Team for their victories and extraordinary performances in clenching the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletics Association Division II National Championship.    

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coaches Chris Moon, Marvice Robinson and Cedric Tyson; and the Alabama School for the Deaf Boys Track Team and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
