Resolution: Alabama School for the Blind Boys Track Team
During their May 2024 meeting, the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees voted in favor of the following resolution honoring the Alabama School for the Blind Boys Track Team.
WHEREAS, the Alabama School for the Blind (ASB) Boys Track Team competed against Mississippi School for the Blind, Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Oklahoma School for the Blind, Louisiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Georgia Academy for the Blind at the South Central Association of Schools for the Blind (SCASB) track and field competition at Louisiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired April 11-13, 2024, and
WHEREAS, the ASB Boys Track Team secured the SCASB championship with a total score of 240.5, a resounding victory over their competitors Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired who scored 110, Mississippi School for the Blind who scored 95, Louisiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired who scored 67.5, Oklahoma School for the Blind who scored 38, Georgia Academy for the Blind who scored 25, and
WHEREAS, the team also won first place in the Shuttle Relay, 4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay, and
WHEREAS, the following ASB Boys Track Team members won first place in their respective competitions: William Burgess, Triple Jump A Class; Moises Francisco, 800 Meter B Class; Zachary Glasgow, 400 Meter A Class; Daymion Winfrey in the1600 Meter, Triple Jump B Class, Long Jump B Class and High Jump; and
WHEREAS, the ASB Boys Track Team includes Miguel Andres from Collinsville, AL; William Burgess from Altoona, AL; Moises Francisco from Birmingham, AL; Andre Garrett from Huntsville, AL; Zachary Glasgow from Albertville, AL; Christopher Weaver from Talladega, AL; Ricky Weaver from Tuscaloosa, AL; Daymion Winfrey from Talladega, AL; Kentavious Tinniehill from Talladega, AL; Buckley Williams from Danville, AL; Diego Perez from Daleville, AL ; Jordan Jones from Birmingham, AL; Dalton Harris from Talladega, AL, David Ventura from Montgomery, AL; Clinton Sanders from Five Points, AL; Billy McMichael from Millry, AL ; Charlie Seabolt from Montgomery, AL; and Cedric Caver from Talladega, AL
WHEREAS, the ASB Boys Track Team was trained and led to the overall victory and other honors by Head Coach Troy Haynes and Assistant Coaches Josh Haynes and Amber James, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Board of Trustees congratulates the ASB Boys Track Team for their victories and extraordinary performances in the SCASB Track & Field competitions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Coach Troy Haynes and Assistant Coaches Josh Haynes and Amber James, the ASB Boys Track Team and a copy be spread across the minutes of this meeting.
