Ms. Beverly Brown's Classroom
Two accelerated reading students signing with their stories as they are read on the iPads.
Hello from the Helen Keller School Library!
My name is Beverly Brown. I am the reading teacher and as you can see I love Dr. Seuss. I dress up like the "Cat in the Hat" for the students each year during "Read Across America". My students read their accelerated reading(AR) books through sign language, braille, or large print. After the book is read, the students take their AR test for comprehension using the online tests for their book. Points and reading certificates are earned based on the reading level of each book.
Welcome to our page!
Two boys typing the daily lunch menu on their braillers to be displayed in the cafeteria. Some students who read braille will type the lunch menu to read to their classmates.
Come to HKS Awards Day to find out how many AR points your student earned this year!
Reading level certificates will be given based on which level was achieved.
Awards will be given for Braille Reader of the Year and Braille Writer of the Year!
The Reader of the Year will be announced...it was a close race again this year!
