Of Note: All AIDB facilities are fully-accredited. As a component of the public education system within the State of Alabama, Alabama residents attend and participate in AIDB programs at no cost. Through a legislative appropriation, AIDB receives funds to cover 90 percent of the basic costs of educating our students such as instructor and staff salaries, utilities, food, and facilities. In existence since 1858, AIDB continues to evoke the optimism and enthusiasm of its early leaders who knew they were building something that would stand the test of time and be here for future generations. 

The spirit of AIDB’s early leaders is still evident in our programs like the Birmingham Regional Center today – we believe in our consumers and students and we focus on their ability – not their disability. We challenge you to do the same!
